Reflecting on a Month of Kindness at Lynwood Charlton Centre

Our ‘Be Kind. Help Hope Grow.’ Anti-Bullying Campaign

HAMILTON, ON – MARCH 2026

Kindness is more than a word. At Lynwood Charlton Centre, it's part of how we show up every day—for the children, youth, and families we serve, and for each other.

This February, we invited our community to join us in something simple but powerful: the Be Kind. Help Hope Grow. campaign. What started as a month of learning and activities became something bigger—a reminder that small acts of kindness really do add up.

Here's a look back at how we celebrated, learned, and grew together.

Pink Shirt Day: More Than a Shirt

On February 26th, we joined communities across the country to mark Pink Shirt Day—a day dedicated to standing up against bullying and spreading kindness.

Across our programs—from live-in treatment to school-based supports—youth, staff, and families wore pink with pride. But more importantly, they wore it with purpose.

In the days leading up to Pink Shirt Day, our homes and classrooms were buzzing with conversations about what kindness actually looks like:

  • What does it mean to stand up for someone?

  • How do we show up for each other when things get hard?

  • What's one small thing we can do today to make someone feel seen?

Those conversations didn't end when the shirts came off. They're still happening.

A Month of Learning and Connection

Throughout February, our Be Kind Campaign Page became a gathering place for resources, reflections, and ideas. Staff shared books, articles, and activities that sparked conversations about empathy, inclusion, and mental health. Families told us they appreciated having tools to keep the conversation going at home.

Some highlights from the month:

  • Group discussions in our programs about how kindness shows up in daily life—in the hallways, at the dinner table, in tough moments.

  • Kindness challenges where youth and staff committed to small acts of connection.

  • Art and writing activities where younger children expressed what kindness means to them (spoiler: it often involves snacks and hugs).

Kindness Is a Practice

Thank You for Being Part of It

To everyone who wore pink, shared a kind word, or simply showed up this February: thank you. You're part of what makes this community special.

The campaign page will stay live, and the conversation will keep going. Because kindness isn't just for February—it's for every day.

Be kind. Help. Hope grow.
