Volunteer Opportunities
Join a community of care.
We are Hamilton’s Lead Agency for child and youth mental health, entrusted as a haven for transformative care.
Through our network of residential, in-home, school, and community programs, we help children and youth build resilience, heal from adversity, and discover their strengths. Every service—whether crisis support, counselling, or specialized treatment—is designed to nurture not just mental health, but connection, hope, and lifelong growth.
At Lynwood Charlton Centre, volunteers don’t just fill gaps— they fill hearts.
When you give your time, you become a vital part of a compassion community that is dedicated to helping Hamilton’s children, youth, and families rediscover their strength, resilience and hope.
We’re looking for compassionate, reliable individuals aged 18+ who are committed to our mission.
We openly welcome volunteers who reflect the beautiful diversity of Hamilton—including multilingual speakers and those with lived experience. Your unique perspective could be exactly what a young person needs to thrive.
Why Volunteer With Us?
We’re looking for compassionate, reliable individuals aged 18+ who are committed to our mission. Relevant experience is a bonus but not always required—we provide training and ongoing support!
Make a Direct Impact: See firsthand how your efforts contribute to a young person’s journey toward healing and hope.
Grow New Skills: Gain valuable experience in mental health, youth work, event planning, and more in a supportive and collaborative environment. Many volunteers discover new passions—some even pursue careers in child development, education, or mental health after their time here.
Join a community: Connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for making a difference.
Be Valued: Your unique skills, perspectives, and time are respected and essential to our work.
How You Can Help
We have a variety of opportunities to match your skills, interests, and availability. Whether you’re hands-on in programs or supporting behind the scenes, your contribution matters.
Direct Support Roles:
Program Support: Assist our clinical teams with recreational activities, arts-based programming, and day-to-day support (e.g., Under the Willows summer program).
Mentorship: Build positive, supportive relationships with youth in our residential and community programs.
Workshop Facilitation: Share a special skill (e.g., music, art, yoga) in a therapeutic setting.
Indirect Support Roles:
Event Support: Help us run fundraising events and community awareness campaigns.
Administrative Support: Lend your organizational skills in our offices.
Special Projects: Contribute to one-time projects like gardening, painting, or organizing donation drives.
