Lynwood Charlton Centre is Hamilton’s Lead Agency for child and youth mental health, providing transformative care through community, residential, and treatment services. We empower young people (prenatal to age 25) and their families with equitable, accessible programs—from counselling and crisis support to skill-building and advocacy. Guided by compassion and evidence, we collaborate with 7 core partners to strengthen mental health across our diverse community.
Through our Lead Agency role, we are responsible for leading and facilitating system reform in Hamilton. To do this, we work collaboratively with other child and youth mental health service providers, other affiliated community partners including our child welfare, health, and school board partners, and parents and youth engaged in our services.

The Centre is licensed by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation. We are currently looking for permanent full-time Mental Health Clinician to join our team.

ROLE OVERVIEW
Working under the direction of the Program Manager and Clinical Director, the Mental Health Clinician will assume direct clinical responsibility for cases as assigned, including fulfilling case coordination, consultation and providing direct service to children/youth and families. The Mental Health Clinician will also perform duties related to program development and evaluation, though developing effective linkages with service providers from larger systems in the community and act as a resource and support person to teams as needed.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct service/counselling to the child and family and/or youth in the live-in treatment facility, their home, school and/or community.
Utilization of assessments to provide recommendations and education to Children, youth, families staff and community collaterals on treatment modalities.
Participating in the intake/screening and ongoing case management for children/youth referred to the live-in treatment program.
Participate as a member of clinical teams which could include intake, implementation, program development, and evaluation.
Provide resources, and treatments utilizing a wide range of treatment modalities appropriate to the needs and strengths of the child/youth and family.
Maintain clinical records, assessments, and reports according to agency and program policy and procedures.
Facilitates group work for children, youth and families.
Providing clinical consultation to community schools or other programs that involve the clients.
Liaise and support referrals with community agencies on behalf of the child/youth and family.
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Live-in Treatment program.
Contribute to effective team development and processes to promote team cohesion and communication.
Will participate in all mandatory agency training and in-service processes.
Assume responsibility for own professional development, including keeping abreast of new techniques in the field, community resources and acquiring new skills required to best serve the children/youth and families within the program.
Facilitate training sessions to staff in collaboration with the clinical director and program managers.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Post secondary degree in a related field such as social work, counselling or nursing (Master’s level preferred)
Registered and in good standing with a regulatory body such as Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or College of Nurses of Ontario (required)
Minimum G2 driver’s License
Certification in CHYMHs assessment or certification obtained within 3 months of hire
