As Lead Agency for Child and Youth Mental Health, we work in collaboration with Hamilton’s 7 Core Service Providers to strengthen relationships with educators, healthcare professionals, child welfare organizations, and other community partners to improve the mental health of our community.

Alternatives for Youth

Alternatives for Youth provides community-based substance use and addiction treatment services that engage and mobilize youth (12-25) and their families. Alternatives for Youth inspires hope and resilience in youth by respecting client choice and rights, involving their supports/circle of care when appropriate, and by creating an environment that supports inclusion, equity and diversity.

CSCHN (Centre de santé communautaire Hamilton/Niagara)

CSCHN offers a range of programs and services in the prevention, awareness and treatment of mental health difficulties for children, adolescents and their families. All services are free, confidential and offered in French.

City of Hamilton Public Health Services

Child and Adolescent Services is a community-based children’s mental health clinic provided by Public Health Services in the City of Hamilton. They provide mental health counselling and treatment for children and youth, under 18, and their families. Services are confidential and free.

St.Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton

COAST (Crisis Outreach and Support Team) is a unique partnership between mental health professionals from St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and specially trained police officers from Hamilton Police Service. COAST serves all ages from seniors, adults, youth, and children who are in crisis and have a mental health and addiction concern.

Good Shepherd

The Good Shepherd Youth Services Mental Health Program, supports young people aged 16-21 experiencing homelessness or precarious housing in Hamilton and surrounding areas, through person-centered and evidence-informed care provided by Social Workers, Peer Support Workers, and Psychotherapists.

Lynwood Charlton Centre

Lynwood Charlton Centre is the Lead Agency for child and youth mental health services and is the single point of access / referral for these services in the Hamilton area. Lynwood Charlton Centre supports children and adolescents (0-18 and of all gender presentations), and their parents/caregivers who are experiencing complex mental health challenges. This support would include: Intensive out-of-home treatment programs, at-home treatment programs, specialized counselling programs and much more.

The Child and Youth Mental Health Program (CYMHP) at McMaster Children’s Hospital provides a range of intensive and time-sensitive services for children, youth and families who are dealing with mental health concerns. Services within this program include: mental health assessments, outpatient clinic care, inpatient unit care, and consultation services.
